SALT POINT BLUFFS

Carpool at the pullout for Gualala business directory at 10:30 and at The Sea Ranch Lodge parking lot at 10:45. Start at 11:00 at Salt Point State Park. Turn west at Main Entrance and follow road down to ocean where the large parking lot is. Bringcoupons or state park passes if you have them. Hike the coastal trail along the bluffs starting at left side of parking lot. Continue north until you are at trail which descends into Stump Beach. If the weather cooperates, we will have lunch at a special spot Glen Forbes found for us. We will walk back by jeep trail which is inland of coastal trail. This section of Salt Point has interesting rock formations and often spectacular waves this time of the year. Dogs are not allowed on the Salt Point trails.

GUALALA ARTS TO GREEN IRON BRIDGE ROAD HIKE

Meet at 10:00 in back part of Gualala Arts parking lot. Hike the Gualala Arts trails and then hike along the road down to the bridge and the end of the county road and back. The leader will take us
through the closed campground on our way to the bridge or on our way back. This is a forested road with nice views of the Gualala River and some mild elevation changes.  At the end of the hike there will be a chance to look at the Shameless Art Exhibit on display at the Burnett Gallery and Jacob Foyer.

CORMORANT, BREAKER MEADOW, OHLSON BEACH, SHELL BEACH

Meet at 9:45 at pullout for Gualala business directory north of bridge and at 10:00 at Steve and Bonnie Coffeysmith's house, 339 Bluff Reach, corner of Bluff Reach and Cormorant Close (right on
Breaker Reach, right on Hedgegate, left on Bluff Reach.). Walk to marker 30A and follow the hedgerow to marker 30D. Turn right and follow the trail to 26D and continue on Breaker Meadow Trail to 25D. Take the bike trail from 25D to marker 21, passing by Knipp-Stengel Barn. Turn right to Ohlson Beach, then return to 21, turn left and walk along the bluff to marker 24, overlooking Stengel Beach. Follow the bluff trail from 24, 24A, 25 to marker 31. Check out the cormorant nesting area at the point, then continue along the bluff to Shell Beach and loop back via 33, 33A, and Cormorant Reach to complete the loop. Enjoy your bag lunch at the Coffeysmith's out of the elements.

AIRPORT ROUNDABOUT #2: SEA RIDGE, DEEP WOODS, FLY CLOUD (new variation)

Meet at 9:45 at pullout for Gualala business directory north of bridge and at 10:00 at Jane Seck's house at 304 Spar Close. Turn on Annapolis Road from Highway One, left on Sea Ridge, left on Pilot's Reach, left on Spar Close. Jane will be providing a vegetarian soup and others are invited to bring food to share with this (eg. bread, salad, dessert). Start at the end of Spar Close; right on Pilot's
Reach; left on Sea Ridge Road. Cross Spring Meadow to post 316 and follow trails to 311. Turn right on East Ridge Rd, left on Deep Woods Dr, right on River Beach Rd, and left on Timber Ridge Rd. Walk to the end of Verdant View and through the Sea Ranch Supply parking lot to the Posh Squash; walk through the garden and continue on the path to Timber Ridge Rd and turn left. Turn right on Fly Cloud, right on Westgate, and left on Timber Ridge Rd to Sea Ridge, left on Pilot's Reach, and left on Spar Close to complete the loop.

STORNETTA - HIGHWAY ONE TO CYPRESS ABBEY SECTION (new variation)

Meet at 10:20 at pullout for Gualala business directory and at 10:30  at Anchor Bay (West side of Hwy 1) to carpool and start at the junction of Lighthouse Road and Highway One 2 miles north of Point Arena at 11:00. We will travel the access road to the old Coast Guard Loran site (now owned by Mendocino Community College) turning left before we get there to enter that middle section of the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands. From there we will walk through the "forest" to the bluff and enjoy the spectacular views of the off shore islands and the Ocean and find a suitable site for lunch before retracting our steps.
