Salt Point

I missed this week's hike so this report comes from Mary Sue and the photo credit goes to Bob.

Cold, but beautiful today at Salt Point. The trails were a bit wet, but there was no complaining. We had our lunch out of the wind in the warmth of Gerstle Cove.

Trash & Animal Rescue

It was a sunny day in Annapolis.  6 people showed up for the hike.  Collectively we picked up LOTS of trash and recycling (as is sadly often the case with road hikes).  Along the way we encountered a loose puppy which required contacting the owners to assure his safe return.  After the hike we lunched at Nancy Dew's home: Lilith, where she does her priestess training.  Over lunch we learned of her chicken crisis:  Guadalupe had escaped and Nancy was unable to catch her.  After a strategy session involving m&ms and Bob's recommendation of covering her with a towel, we commenced with Operation Chicken Catch.  As we formed a body barrier we closed in on dear Guadalupe and Ginger did the honors of the cover and lift.  After that we toured Nancy's property which host a seasonal stream providing lovely sounds and waterfalls along the way.

Timber Ridge Road

After a night of rain, we started the hike down Timber Ridge Road in the mist and ended with sunshine at the amazing and lovely Posh Squash.  Some of us had lunch at 2Fish Bakery.

Hearty Hikers

Despite it being a drizzly day we had 12 hikers complete the close to 5 mile trek to Soda Springs Reserve in Annapolis.  7 of us opted for eating lunch at leader Jim's warm, beautiful and dry home.

The Goal is Within Reach

We are closing in our goal of walking all of the trails on Sea Ranch.  To complete it, we had to walk on this not so idyllic one that parallels the highway for a bit.  Thanks Linda for being our leader and putting up with our none-sense.  :)  It was a nice rain-free hike.

Super Stornetta

It was a lovely sunny fall day.  The waves were big and the wind was small.  (Note Karl's foot in the top photo! Photo Credit: Ginger.)

The Hot Spot!

It was a lovely November day at the hot spot.  We lunched in the sunshine on the south fork of the Gualala River.  Our leader was Jim and he inspired us to hit ALL of the hot spot trails in one hike!

Rain Delay

While I spent a LOOOOOOOOOOONG day in transit from Gualala to Nashville, Tennessee... here's what the Thursday Ramblers did as reported by Mary Sue:
"It was raining today so we didn't do our scheduled hike, but four of us had a shorter hike in the forest where the redwood trees provided shelter and three of us had lunch together at Trinks afterwards. The seasonal waterfall on the road to the campground at Gualala Point Park was flowing earlier than usual." Photos from Bob Rutemoeller.

Southern Bluff of Sea Ranch

The sun of last week was replaced with clouds this week.  It was a lovely day to walk the bluff and visit the grazing sheep and goats.

Fort Ross without me...

"Eight hikers walked the Kolmer Loops at Fort Ross on a warm day. Maury is demonstrating the San Andreas Fault that runs along some of the trail. We enjoyed lunch in the shade at the hidden picnic table." - Mary Sue (Photo credit: Mary Sue)

While the Thursday Ramblers were exploring Fort Ross I was in Gualala with my mother-in-law, Nell,  and her friend Jerry.  Here's where we were:

Diamond Day!

It was a beautiful day on the coast.  Believe it or not for the first time in the history of the Thursday Ramblers we ate our lunch at Gualala Point Park beach.  (Typically it is too windy and cold but today was lovely!)

The Huckleberries were abundant and BIG on this hike.  Tina lead us into an old growth fairy ring which was a nice surprise.

GAC to GIB

This road hike left plenty of opportunity for us to pick up trash and recycling.  It was a lovely sunny day and the mosquitoes were out in force!  The hike started and ended at The Gualala Arts Center

While you were at Sea Ranch...

Mary Sue reported: "On this overcast day we hiked on the Sea Ranch bluff and saw cormorant nesting habitat and cormorants."  I missed another Thursday Rambler hike this week, but for good reason!  My namesake, Harmony Grace was here with her family from Albany, NY.  Here's what I was doing:
