Meet at 9:05 at pullout for Gualala business directory and at Anchor Bay (west side of Hwy 1) at 9:15. The hike starts at the public access from Highway One on about mile marker 22.27 at 9:45. We will turn in at Alder Creek Beach Road, then turn directly left and park on the road that parallels Highway One. We will walk down the road where it is closed until we come to the trail that leads to the environmental campground hoping to see wildflowers and walk back via the beach if we can. We may change the direction of the hike depending on the wind. We will have lunch afterwards at Beverley Thompson's lovely garden to view spring flowers (Rhododendrons and Azaleas to name a few.)

HARRIS RANCH ROAD AND FROG SONG GARDEN

Carpool at pullout for Gualala business directory just north of the bridge at 9:30 or at Bower Park at 9:40. We will meet at Bill Clement's house at 10:00. He will lead us on a walk on the road that borders his property and perhaps on his property as well. Afterwards we will drive to Frog Song Garden, Sandy Scott's amazing garden for a tour. You can read more about her and her garden here:
http://www.gualalaarts.org/Events/2010-07GardenGuildLuncheon.html
Afterwards we will eat our lunches. Sandy's garden has been featured in the Garden Conservancy Open Days and she has also created a lovely small area for her grandchildren out of recycled materials that is fun to see. There will be a lot of inviting places in her garden where we can eat our lunches.

PLANTATION FOREST

This is the section that was logged last year. Hard to tell isn't it!
Trees will blue lines will be logged next time they cut this area. Each section of his land is on a 16 year logging cycle.
The chicken coup.
PLANTATION FOREST- May 9, 2013
Meet at 9:15 at pullout for Gualala business directory north of bridge to carpool and at The Sea Ranch Lodge parking lot at 9:30.  We have a wonderful opportunity to visit the Plantation Forest managed by owner Ed Tunheim. He has agreed to give us a tour of this property, which adjoins Plantation Camp. This is a very beautiful property with many surprises and it is fascinating to learn how he plans his harvest so the forest remains healthy and productive, but you can barely tell he is logging. Drive south turning left on Kruse Ranch Road and drive to the top. Turn left on Hauser Bridge Rd and enter through the gate opposite the brightly colored mailbox.
